Important leadership planning meeting

Category : General Pro-Life

If you want to see this pro-life group continue to save lives on campus, come to this meeting!

In order to keep this group alive we need leaders.  We need people who take their pro-life conviction seriously, who can commit to a weekly planning meeting, who want to put their talents to good use (math, speaking skills, creativity, people skills, computer skills, advertising, hospitality/fun people, athletic people, science experts, etc.), and most of all – who are committed to bringing a culture of life to UWF with this group.

We Need You!

What good is a pro-life belief unless it is used?  How can any lives be saved if we don’t use our knowledge, influence, resources, and talent to help change our world to be a better place?  Let’s face it, being pro-life is not enough.   I’m sure a lot of people were against the Nazi death camps during WWII, but only the people who acted to hide Jews, free Jews, and convert Nazis actually made a dent in the culture of death during the Holocaust.  Will you be an abortion abolitionist in our day and age?

Why lead?

You can learn a lot from being active in our group.  Basically you have the opportunity to take what you learn in the classroom and put it into real action in a life-saving event!  What could be better?  (Not to mention the benefit this experience will help with your future career and highlight it can bring to your portfolio.)  Who wouldn’t want to hire an intelligent, go-getter, who cares about life?

The leadership planning meeting is Thursday, 4PM, Rm 255 in the upstairs Commons.

At the meeting, we will sign up for leadership positions.  These positions will be voted on and then the leaders will receive training.  The actual leadership position will not officially begin until the fall, but practice and learning will take place over the spring semester.  Once the leaders have been nominated, they will decide on a planning meeting time that works for the leaders’ schedule.

***If for some reason you want to be considered and cannot attend the meeting, please respond to this email.  You can still apply for a leadership position if you are unable to attend.  Please attend if at all possible- but again, if you can’t, respond to this email.

Breast Cancer Prevention Event TOMORROW!

AN OUNCE OF “PREVENTION” IS WORTH

A POUND OF “CURE”

Ever wonder why breast cancer awareness has become such a big topic today? Because in the past 30 years, breast cancer rates have tripled.  Whereas breast cancer used to be a grandmother’s disease, now it has expanded to women in their 20′s and 30′s.

Why is this happening? Overwhelming scientific studies show that both abortion and hormonal contraception increase a woman’s risk of breast cancer.  They both increase  a woman’s exposure to carcinogenic estrogen.  These two risk factors for breast cancer make for an even greater risk when used by women who have never had children before because their breast cells are immature and more susceptible to cancerous mutation.

Monday 10AM-1PM

in the Commons Great Hall:

UWF students for Life is hosting a Breast Cancer Prevention event.  We will have important information on how YOU can REDUCE your risk of breast cancer, a video testimony by a young woman currently fighting breast cancer, a performance by the UWF dance team, free gift bags, and much much more!  Men and women alike are welcome as the topic of breast cancer prevention concerns both women and the men in their lives.

…requires planning, time, and effort.  Tomorrow begins our first weekly planning meeting.  We will be planning a trip to “Clare’s Hope” abortion museum in Mobile (Sept 18th), involvement in 40 Days for Life (Sept 22nd-Oct. 31), this October’s “Breast Cancer Prevention” event, and our up-coming March for Life trip.

Tomorrow we’re meeting at the Commons patio at 9AM.

Every Thursday after that, we will meet in Room 265 from 8:30-9:50AM.

We have a place for you on our leadership team.  You are the future of UWF Students for Life and the voice for the voiceless on this campus.   Come – no experience required, just bring yourself. :)
