Important leadership planning meeting

Category : General Pro-Life

If you want to see this pro-life group continue to save lives on campus, come to this meeting!

In order to keep this group alive we need leaders.  We need people who take their pro-life conviction seriously, who can commit to a weekly planning meeting, who want to put their talents to good use (math, speaking skills, creativity, people skills, computer skills, advertising, hospitality/fun people, athletic people, science experts, etc.), and most of all – who are committed to bringing a culture of life to UWF with this group.

We Need You!

What good is a pro-life belief unless it is used?  How can any lives be saved if we don’t use our knowledge, influence, resources, and talent to help change our world to be a better place?  Let’s face it, being pro-life is not enough.   I’m sure a lot of people were against the Nazi death camps during WWII, but only the people who acted to hide Jews, free Jews, and convert Nazis actually made a dent in the culture of death during the Holocaust.  Will you be an abortion abolitionist in our day and age?

Why lead?

You can learn a lot from being active in our group.  Basically you have the opportunity to take what you learn in the classroom and put it into real action in a life-saving event!  What could be better?  (Not to mention the benefit this experience will help with your future career and highlight it can bring to your portfolio.)  Who wouldn’t want to hire an intelligent, go-getter, who cares about life?

The leadership planning meeting is Thursday, 4PM, Rm 255 in the upstairs Commons.

At the meeting, we will sign up for leadership positions.  These positions will be voted on and then the leaders will receive training.  The actual leadership position will not officially begin until the fall, but practice and learning will take place over the spring semester.  Once the leaders have been nominated, they will decide on a planning meeting time that works for the leaders’ schedule.

***If for some reason you want to be considered and cannot attend the meeting, please respond to this email.  You can still apply for a leadership position if you are unable to attend.  Please attend if at all possible- but again, if you can’t, respond to this email.

Abby Johnson’s “Unplanned” is a page-turner!

Category : General Pro-Life, News

1st day of receiving “Unplanned” by Abby Johnson in the mail, I could NOT put the book down!

  • This is the authentic, 100% honest story of Abby Johnson’s transformative experience from being pro-abortion to pro-life.

  • It unveils the reality of what real abortion workers truly think, believe, and feel about their work.

  • The power of the 40 Days for Life peaceful prayer campaign is demonstrated in the life of Abby.

  • Most of all this book helps pro-lifers to intimately approach all abortion workers with hearts of understanding and compassion – which is a MUST if we are to help any of them leave abortion and work for life.

If you have never read a pro-life book before, this is a great start.  For us to be successful advocates for life, we must educate ourselves extensively on the issue.

Ask yourself these questions:

  1. Do I understand why people choose abortion?
  2. Do I know how to help someone who is in a crisis pregnancy?
  3. Do I know how to help a post-abortive man or woman?
  4. Why do people work for abortion?
  5. Why is abortion wrong?

Here are some other suggested pro-life educational materials:

  1. abort73.com (Has proof, explanations, and all information about the abortion issue)
  2. Pro-Life 101: A Step-by-Step Guide to Making Your Case Persuasively by Scott Klusendorf (Clear, concise explanation on how to make a persuasive pro-life argument.  THIS IS A MUST-HAVE FOR ALL PRO-LIFERS)
  3. Ending Abortion; Not Just Fighting It by Father Frank Pavone (essays on how to end abortion)
  4. Forbidden Grief by Dr. Laura Schlessinger (understanding women suffering from a past abortion)

Festival on the Green: Recap

Category : Events

Thank you everyone for your help and support in making this fun activity such a resounding SUCCESS!

This event was a time to unite with the community and the university in a celebration of food, culture, knowledge, and craft.  Our group was located next to the stage where our volunteers enjoyed the performances of young musicians, belly dancers, karate, and Native American music.  In this location, many passers-by were caught by the image of our life-like fetal models.

Pro-Life Ambassador Training 101: Wednesdays in April

Category : Events, General Pro-Life

  • Do you ever feel like you have the desire to share the pro-life message, but just don’t know how?

  • Are you afraid of getting into a heated discussion in which could end in misunderstanding or bad feelings instead of knowledge and growth?

For this reason UWF Students for Life is hosting Aaron Chatraw, Air Force pilot and Georgia Tech graduate, to give us a 4 week training program to help you to be a calm, conversational, inspirational pro-life ambassador! He has been trained with the well-respected and highly appraised pro-life group: Justice for All, and has  already had significant hands-on experience with engaging positive dialogue on this important issue.

Come learn how you can be a better advocate of the truth about human life. 50 million human lives, along with an additional 1 million per year, have been killed by abortion - can we afford to remain silent any longer?  There is a right way to respectfully discuss abortion and the facts of human life- come find out how!

Training Dates:

Wednesday April 7th 6PM

Wednesday April 14th 6PM

Wednesday April 21st 6PM

Wednesday April 28th 6PM

**Please email me by March 20th to order the handbook for pro-life apologetics that goes along with the pro-life training series.  It is not required, but is helpful to have as a reference and refresher.  The cost is $9.
