Meeting with candidate went great!

Category : News

Last Thursday at UWF, both Students for Life and College Republicans enjoyed a personal audience with next fall’s Florida candidate for Senate, George Lemieux.  Both groups were free to ask the candidate any question that concerned them.  Some of the questions asked included:

  • “What are your ideas for solving the social security crisis?”
  • “What is your stance on pro-life issues?”
  • “How do you vote on legislation?”
  • “What can we the people do to get our nation going in the right direction?”

You can read about his ideas and stances regarding these topics by going to his website: Georgeforflorida.com

While Students for Life is not a political group, we do participate in political events to advance pro-life legislation.  I highly, highly encourage you to do your homework, look at the voting records for the candidates in your voting district and vote in TRULY, AUTHENTICALLY pro-life leaders.  When we do not vote or when we vote out of ignorance, we do a great disservice to our country as well as those who fought for the freedoms we so often take for granted.  Remember, if a candidate does not recognize the dignity and worth of human life (no matter the age), that candidate has no moral compass to make responsible legislation regarding other issues.

*Candidates that support “reducing the number of abortions” are NOT PRO-LIFE.  A little bit of killing is still killing.  We cannot afford to compromise on the most basic of values.*

Bill Nelson has been a Florida Senator since 1972!  He has promoted anti-life bill after anti-life bill amongst other bad legislation!  We cannot afford to allow career politicians like Bill Nelson to stay in power because of ignorance of the damage they create.  After meeting with George Lemieux, I know for certain that he is truly 100% pro-life and pro-America.  Because of his unwillingness to compromise on the most basic of rights, he is also unwilling to compromise on responsible long-term solutions that will be good for Florida and good for the United States.  Do your homework and vote smart!

  • If you would like to get involved with supporting pro-life leaders and legislation, please come to our next group meeting Thursday at 3PM in the room 260 of the Commons.
  • If you would like to help pro-life candidate George Lemieux replace pro-abortion Senator Bill Nelson next fall, go to his website and sign up to help out with his campaign!  Click here to sign up for volunteer opportunities: http://www.georgeforflorida.com/take-action/

Pro-Life Candidate coming to UWF!

Category : Events

UWF Students for Life will be hosting George Lemieux, candidate for Senate

at UWF this Thursday September 8th from 2:30-3:30 in the Nautilus Chamber.  He is a great candidate for Senate as he is a unabashedly pro-life.

Learn more about his stance on issues on his blog here: http://www.georgeforflorida.com/issues/values/

He will be running to unseat pro-abortion senator Bill Nelson who has supported anti-life bill after anti-life bill.  We need to get Senator Bill Nelson out of the Senate; he doesn’t listen to his constituents when they urge him to vote pro-life and he doesn’t seem to care about America’s future: the unborn.

More details on his pro-abortion stance: http://www.ontheissues.org/social/Bill_Nelson_Abortion.htm

Come with all the questions you’ve ever had for this great candidate for Senate.  We really need good honest pro-life candidates to be voted in this year.  Look at all the damage that has been done by Obama and the rest of the valueless, compromising leaders who supported the pro-abortion health care bill, Mexico City Policy being repealed, mandates for laws that violate conscience-rights, etc.  Please DO YOUR HOMEWORK this fall and vote for candidates based on voting history – NOT on how cool or slick they look and what fake promises they may make.

Welcome back everyone!  Hope you all had a merry Christmas, happy holidays, and happy new year!  Hopefully you all got some much-needed rest from schoolwork and time to enjoy friends and family….

Thank you everyone for replying to the last post regarding the March for Life.  Our trip is now full and almost ready to go!  UWF Students for Life asks that all please keep this March for Life trip in your prayers and thoughts – this is going to be a huge accomplishment for UWF and for our group.

We have THREE TIMES the number of trip participants as we did last year!  Our group is growing in strength, number, and knowledge!  We will keep you posted on the trip – please do spread the word about this event – there will be HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of pro-lifers marching to the Supreme Court in Washington D.C. January 24th 2011.

GREAT NEWS!

Abby Johnson, a pro-life convert who used to be the director of Planned Parenthood last year has finally been able to reveal the secrets of what Planned Parenthood is really like behind closed doors.  If you are looking for an eye-opening read on the abortion business from someone who knows personally – this is a must-have.

Festival on the Green: Recap

Category : Events

Thank you everyone for your help and support in making this fun activity such a resounding SUCCESS!

This event was a time to unite with the community and the university in a celebration of food, culture, knowledge, and craft.  Our group was located next to the stage where our volunteers enjoyed the performances of young musicians, belly dancers, karate, and Native American music.  In this location, many passers-by were caught by the image of our life-like fetal models.

We need YOUR talent and MUSCLES!

Bella is going to be a big event for UWF Students for Life.  We need YOUR help to get word out about it and make it a fun event.  Here are some things we need help with:

-Advertising (print out some flyers for us, tape some flyers around campus, design a poster for the event, email the Voyager newspaper about our event)

-Hospitality (greet people coming to the event, pass out food and goodies, stuff goodie bags, pick up food for the event)

Please email me as soon as possible if you can help in any way. It can be as simple as posting up a handful of flyers….

UWF Students for Life needs YOU!
